Kainuu Trail Hossa National Park (Finland) 27 June 2026 – Cancellation and Change Policy
1. Entry fee and additional services
The entry fee refers to the participation fee for the chosen race distance in the registration portal in which the participant has registered.
Additional services (e.g. event products, meals, and bus transfers) are not included in the entry fee. As these services are pre-booked by the organizer for participants, payments for additional services cannot unfortunately be refunded.
In the event of a cancellation, pre-ordered event products (e.g. T-shirts or running shirts) can be sent to the participant by post after the event (participant covers postal costs). If bus transfers must be cancelled by the organizer, the bus transfer fees will be fully refunded.
2. Transfer and Cancellation Protection Product (€10)
Participants may purchase a Transfer and Cancellation Protection Product (€10) during registration, which provides the following rights:
Cancellation of participation
- The entry fee will be fully refunded if the participant cancels their participation latest on a race day (27 June 2026).
- The protection product fee (€10) is non-refundable.
- If the entry fee was paid using an employee sports benefit, it cannot be refunded according to the Finnish Tax Administration guidelines.
Transfer of participation to the next year’s event
- Participation can be transferred to the 2027 Kainuu Trail event without additional cost until race day (27 June 2026).
- The transfer must be requested via email to kainuutrail@rastiviikko.fi.
- If the entry fee for the following year differs, the difference will neither be charged nor refunded.
No medical certificate required
- Participants who have purchased the Transfer and Cancellation Protection Product are not required to provide a medical certificate when cancelling their participation.
Changing race category without a handling fee until 15 June 2026
If the participant has purchased the Transfer and Cancellation Protection Product, changing race category is possible until 15 June 2026 without a handling fee under the following conditions:
- From a more expensive to a cheaper category: No €10 handling fee will be charged, but any excess entry fee will not be refunded.
- From a cheaper to a more expensive category: No €10 handling fee will be charged, but the participant must pay the difference between the race categories. The difference is calculated according to the entry price tier in which the participant originally registered.

After 15 June 2026, changing race category is no longer possible, as race materials and services will have already been ordered.

If a participant insists on changing category after 15 June, they must contact the office at kainuutrail@rastiviikko.fi. We will then assess whether the change is still possible, depending, among other things, on the availability of spots in other race categories. If a category change is allowed after 15 June, a €10 handling fee and any difference in entry fees will be charged.
The change of distance must be made by email to kainuutrail@rastiviikko.fi
Personal validity
- The Transfer and Cancellation Protection Product applies only to the individual participant’s own registration and cannot be transferred to another person.
3. Participation without Transfer and Cancellation Protection
If the participant has not purchased the Transfer and Cancellation Protection Product, the following terms apply:
- If the participant cancels by 30 April 2026, the entry fee will be refunded minus a €10 handling fee.
- If the participant cancels after 30 April 2026, 50% of the entry fee will be refunded upon presentation of an official medical certificate or equivalent documentation.
- If the entry fee was paid using an employee sports benefit, it cannot be refunded according to the Finnish Tax Administration guidelines.
Transfer of participation to the next year’s event:
- Not possible without Transfer and Cancellation Protection
Changing race category is possible until 15 June 2026:
If the participant does not have transfer and cancellation protection, a change of distance is possible until June 15, 2026, under the following conditions:
- From a more expensive to a cheaper category: A €10 handling fee will be charged, and any remaining fee will not be refunded.
- From a cheaper to a more expensive category: A €10 handling fee and the price difference between categories will be charged. The difference is calculated according to the entry price tier in which the participant originally registered.
- After 15 June 2026, changing race category is no longer possible, as race materials and services will have already been ordered.

4. Transfer of participation to another person
Participation (entry fee + additional services) can be transferred to another person until 15th June 2026. The original participant is responsible for providing all required registration information of the new participant via email to kainuutrail@rastiviikko.fi.
Pre-ordered additional services cannot be cancelled or exchanged during the transfer process. A €10 handling fee will be charged for the transfer, invoiced to the original participant.
5. Changes to participant information (runner's information)
- Changes to participant information made by 15 June 2026 are free of charge. Changes can be made either by the participant directly via the link received by email after registration or by sending an email to kainuutrail@rastiviikko.fi.
- Changes made after 15 June 2026 are subject to a €10 handling fee, invoiced by email. After 15 June, changes can only be made by sending an email to kainuutrail@rastiviikko.fi.
Additional orders for services (e.g. event products, meals, bus transfers) made by email to kainuutrail@rastiviikko.fi after registration are possible at the pre-order price until the final order date of each service. Additional services will be invoiced by email.
6. Postponement, cancellation, or interruption of the event
- If the event must be postponed due to circumstances or force majeure, all paid registrations will automatically transfer to the new date without additional cost.
- If the event is postponed and the participant cancels afterwards, 50% of the entry fee will be refunded.
- If the event must be completely cancelled before race day due to circumstances or force majeure, 50% of the entry fee will be refunded.
- If the event must be interrupted or cancelled during race day due to circumstances or force majeure, entry fees and additional service fees cannot be refunded.
