Check out all the route presentations and stories behind the Kainuu Trail distances
Kainuu Trail participants have asked a lot about how are the running routes builded and what a runner can expect from the race route - is there some important tips to know about the race?
To answer into these questions, we started a new story series about the Kainuu Trail race routes at the start of the Year 2022. Mainly, to reveal the most important terrain and route tips to make participants preparing for Kainuu Trail a little bit easier.
Now we have released all the stories about 10 km Huosius, 21 km Jatkonvaara, 38 k Kokalmus, 55 k Värikallio and 78 k Julma-Ölkky.

First 1.5 km is new in all distances. Use of the road Iikoskentie is forbidden and it's marked on the map with crosses. |
First 1.5 km with new route on all distances
We had a feedback after the 2021 race: why the route is going the first 1.5 km on the road Iikoskentie when there is a possibility to go directly to the perfect trails?
Now we have changed the route so that in all distances the first 1.5 km will be run on the needle paths near the road Iikoskentie.
Naturally, the road Iikoskentie is now forbidden to use in the race.
This new route has now been updated in to the route maps so check it out from routes and maps pages.
We hope you all like the new route!
