Kainuu Trail 2026 set a brilliant new participant record!

The 6th edition of the Kainuu Trail event on 27 June 2026 concluded in record-breaking style!
We would like to cordially thank every runner and spectator, our incredibly amazing volunteer crew, Metsähallitus (Parks & Wildlife Finland) and Hossa National Park, all our important partners, and other stakeholders who helped make this summer's trail running celebration possible in the embrace of Hossa's crystal-clear waters and magnificent ridges. Thanks to you, the event was once again a success, and the atmosphere along the routes and at the competition center was pleasantly relaxed and wonderful!
This year we broke records once again, as Kainuu Trail achieved its all-time largest number of participants for the fourth consecutive year.
Official participant numbers for 2026:
- Registered runners: 684 unique individuals (New participant record!)
- Runners who finished: 566 unique individuals (New participant record!)
- Spectators and team officials: 350 unique individuals
- Total amount at the competition center and on the trails: 1,034 unique individuals
Congratulations once again to all participants – every performance on Hossa's beautiful pine needle trails is a fantastic achievement!
Looking ahead to next summer – Welcome to Hossa on 3 July 2027!
Now it is time to recover your legs and enjoy the joy of success, but our sights are already turning rapidly towards next year. The 7th Kainuu Trail running event will take place in its traditional slot on Saturday, 3 July 2027, in the fairytale scenery of Hossa National Park.
Mark the date in your calendar now – registration for next year's experience will open in autumn 2026!
